OVERVIEW

We were appointed as the main contractor to carry out the full renovation and loft conversion of a beautiful Grade-listed former Quaker House in Holmfirth. Working closely with local architects ADP in Holmfirth, our brief was to sympathetically restore and future-proof this heritage property while transforming it into a fully modernised family home.

OBJECTIVES

EXTERNAL RENOVATION

  • Full roof replacement with the installation of heritage-appropriate roof lights
  • Re-pointing and replacement of period-accurate windows and doors
  • Heritage restoration assessment and structural repairs as per engineering reports
  • Doff steam cleaning and woodworm treatment
  • Refurbishment of existing outhouses
  • Installation of guarding, railings, exterior patios, and a new summer house

ATTIC CONVERSION

  • Full attic conversion designed to future-proof the property creating a new home gym
  • Installation of a new bespoke staircase
  • Interior transformation

COMPLETE INTERNAL REMODELLING

  • Bespoke manufactured fully-fitted kitchen and utility room
  • Bespoke manufactured boot room, wine cellar, and snug
  • Bespoke manufactured downstairs WC, dressing room, ensuite bathroom, and custom main bathroom cabinetry
  • Bespoke manufactured office with ensuite
  • Fully equipped home gym

CHALLENGES

Renovating a listed property of this age and historical importance required careful coordination with heritage bodies, engineers, and specialists. Attention to detail and deep respect for the building’s original features were essential throughout. Integrating modern systems like underfloor heating, smart lighting, and bespoke cabinetry into a centuries-old structure posed logistical challenges that were successfully overcome with thoughtful design and expert craftsmanship.

OUTCOME

The result is a seamless blend of historic preservation and modern luxury. The Quaker House retains its original charm and architectural heritage while now offering all the comforts of a contemporary home, built to last for generations. Our client was particularly pleased with the high level of detail, craftsmanship, and respect shown to the property’s legacy.
